Our experience in DC
Over the course of the GW Cyprus 2018 program we have attended lectures, participated in interactive classrooms discussions and we were given tasks to do. Not only was this a fun experience but an experience that’s self-developing and educational at all levels.
Over the course of the GW Cyprus 2018 program we have attended lectures, participated in interactive classrooms discussions and we were given tasks to do. Not only was this a fun experience but an experience that’s self-developing and educational at all levels.
The teaching of the seminars expanded outside the classroom, we visited two social ventures to see how they work. We went to the Dog Tag bakery which is a bakery that provides valuable work experience for veterans, military spouses, and caregivers. The Dog Tag bakery is not just a bakery it is an educational center where these people can learn how a business works. We also got the opportunity to meet and talk to the team behind the bakery and learn what the difficulties of sustaining a successful business are.
We created 4 different teams each team with a different social venture idea. We created our concepts into an actual business plan and roughly estimated our earnings and our spending. Additionally, we overcame some of the challenges we faced in the stages of developing the venture. In the end, the hard work paid off.I have realized that for a company to move forward they need a good team and for that to happen you need teamwork. Each member of our team had their position and was responsible for a chunk of the work. In the end, we share ideas and feedback with each other in order to continue.
Through our journey in the course, we have learned the basics of how to create our own business and that for a business to survive we need to corporate because 5 brains are smarter than 1.Cypriots from both the north and south part of the island came together to learn from each other and become a team. It has been a valuable experience that is unforgettable.
